It can be difficult to share a fridge with a bunch of different people. You've got four cartons of eggs for four people, all the produce is going bad quicker than you can say "organic," and you can easily forget which bag of green apples is yours and which is your roommate's.
That being said, there's a big difference between accidentally eating your roommate's food and maliciously and intentionally doing so. Again, I feel like there is an ethical difference between sneaking one green grape from your roommate's bag of grapes one time because you accidentally forgot to go grocery shopping and you're basically dying of hunger while your UberEats arrives and habitually swiping their foodstuffs just because you're too lazy to get your own food. One roommate who has been shamelessly stolen from recently got revenge on the thief by doing a gross piece of performance art for both of her roommates: the stealer and the enabler.
